I spoke to our travel agent today and she rang her contact with Virgin Blue. The contact was hinting throughout the entire conversation that the 3pm flight may be reinstated. The contact also advised her to tell us to wait a bit before doing anything. Our agent said she believes that the contact already knows the flight will be reinstated but is not able to tell us that directly at this time. The contact also told her that Virgin are currently playing around with the flight schedules and this is why we have not been advised of the change as it may not stay that way. I advised our agent that I did not want to find out that if we waited we were left with no option but to stay with the flight via Brisbane. We are going to wait it out for a while and see what happens. As our agent nor us has been notified of the change at this stage there is a good possibility that the original flight will be reinstated. Our agent also said if more people were to book the flight then Virgin would be forced to reinstate the direct flight we were originally scheduled on.
Hopefully the original flight is reinstated or we will be changing to the direct flight departing the next day as well.
