It is different to the public boat but still a traditional outrigger. Actually they handle the swell much better than the big boats. They tend to travel sideways over the swell whereas the speedboats just barrel straight into it and it makes for a rough trip. We have travelled on the Perama for 23 trips and there are plenty of lifejackets and personally I prefer it to a speedboat any day.
Cost for the Perama has risen since june 2008 from 75,000rp to 100,000rp per person per way.
