I will happily take you to see enough poverty that it may actually change the way you think. I live here and am happy to take you any day to any poverty stricken area of Bali you want to see, you just need to open your eyes and it is all around.. 3 doors down my lovely neighbors live in a makeshift house made of woven mats and ply board and a large piece of plastic, they have no electricity/gas/running water/toilet etc. Their floor is dirt and they collect the rain water that pours through their roof to use to drink, when the drains on the side of the road fill up enough they will bath in the drains, god knows what they will do when the rain stops. They cook over a hole filled with burning rubbish that they have collected during the day as there is no wood to burn. They have no children which is very sad for an old Balinese couple. But this is just one family of 1000's I can show you. Maybe you do not believe this is poverty as they don't live in the streets and they sometimes have work as we pay them to cut our grass once a fortnight and give them our beer bottles so they can collect the 500rp.
