Only take with you a black cabin bag on wheels. When you get over to Bali purchase the big soft Bali bags to pack all your goodies in to bring home as they weigh next to nothing.
Then pack only the real heavy items/breakable items in your carry on/roll on luggage for your return leg.
You are only suppose to have 7kg for cabin baggage - but a few weeks ago both my daughter and my cabin bags weighed 14.3kg each and it wasn't questioned or weighed as we didn;t make them obvious when checking in. The only reason I know the weight was because I have a set of hand held digital fish scales.
We also had a large handbag each and inside I had some really heavy stone frames.
So all in all we took back into Australia nearly 70 kilos with no excess baggage charged.
Hope this is of some help to you.
