This happened to us last year and we got it issued and on a plane the same evening. Make sure you have passport photos. An issue we had was needing the signature of both parent - and my husband had already arrived in Bali. He had to go to the Australian consulate in Denpassar (beg them to open as it was a holiday there) and get a form faxed back to Aust passport office with his signature on it. Dont just ring them - they will say it takes several days - go there and wait till its done. Good luck - but being Christmas eve and boxing day you are running out of time!!
