Lombok is definately worth seeing but you need time if you are not flying. We spent 10 days travelling around Lombok and Sumbawa in june and it was great but it does take a while to get anywhere. We travelled over on the ferry as we had a car with us and we didn't find it a hassle but we were pretty prepared. You need to allow at least 6 hours for the ferry but sometimes it is quicker around 4 hours. Then you have to travel up to Sengiggi.
