for a SMALL Bintang in Restaurants where a main course may cost less than Rp.15,000. I expect their reasoning is that AT LEAST they are OFFERING BEER on the Menu. Jakarta is an absolute Desert when it comes to getting a drink with a meal. You can NOT buy any alcohol - apart from Beer/Stout in ANY Jakarta Supermarket regardless of size/location.
And this is the Country which has just EXTENDED VISIT INDONESIA YEAR into 2009 with an "emphasis on Conferences/Conventions", the main element for a successful event being availability of Wines/Spirits/Beer and International Menus. Again the Government has "shot itself in the foot" but proudly announced just one week before Christmas that they has "postponed implementation of new importation regulations until February 2009" - minimum ONE MONTH TOO LATE for Bali's Hotels/Restaurants/Outlets to have available stocks of Booze and Imported Foods for the "High Season".
