melb,darwin,bali flights and back

Hi, this is first time going melbourne to bali via darwin, if there is anyone on the forum has done this flight, is it domestic to darwin and we buy duty free alchohol if darwin and is it the same coming back that last chance to buy is also darwin? if so can anyone tell me if duty free at darwin airport is open 24hr as the trip home hits darwin at 2 in the morning!
