Along the Jungabatu stretch there are plenty of places where you would not need to use stairs, Puri Nusa have 2 storey bungalows as well as single storey and I imagine that you would seek ground level, same goes for Lindas, Agus's shipwreck bungalows has one storey rooms, Mainski are doing up their rooms and have a pool as well. And the list goes on.
I would just turn up and check a few places out and then decide what suits you.
The traditional boat has life jackets, especially on the Perama and is a great way to travel, they do it twice a day and know how to handle the swell.
We are back in January, will see what I can do about lack of info, I might call in at a some places, check out rooms and find out prices.
