It is definately because they are carrying out maintenence. I posted the dates they are closing down for a week previously. It may even be when you are there. (cant remember the dates now. search my previous posts). It is a good thing that they put our safety before profit, but yes, for my kids waterbom is always a highlight.
The new ride, cant remember the name, looks like a toilet bowl, was awsome, I am not into rides though, screamed and swore the whole time down. 17 year old Loved it. The other new one, really freeked me out. I needed a little rest and cocktail after that one.
I think it is still worth going, just think of it as an expensive 1/2 day, rather than a full day trip.
