Hi just got back. Flew Jetstar from perth and would do so again. They must have ironed out all the hiccups they seemed to have over east when first started to fly to Bali.Flight crew both ways excellent.Just bought cheese and crackers and a beer on way over, purchased full meal on way back ( good plane food).Must say best landing in Perth ever. Also did VIP VOA and would do again. Made for stress free entry as a 400 seat China Airways arrived just before us.
Stayed at Tungung Bali Resort, nice place. There were 5 of us so worked out cheap.Had one meal there wouldnt again.Only had a quick 6 day trip, ate at Lanai (lovely) Tekor (always good service and nice food) La Lucciolas for breakfast ( enjoyed twice)Tommys (for breakfast and lunch, delightfull corned beef and salad roll) Warung Asia ( my favourite Thai food not eaten in Thailand), Rumors ( good food nice setting) and Cafe Mocca ( could pretend you were in France beautiful people and lovely breakfast) Bonsai in Sanur (one of my favourites always excellent).
Took our 86 year old mother to Safari Park and probably our most enjoyable day.
Didnt do much shopping mainly swimming and eating. Great weather , small amount of rain.Exchange rate mainly around 7100 rups . Shopped at Centro and had one of those heart warming expriences not often associated with shopping and department stores. Bought 2 lovely watches from a stall inside of Centro, after getting a good price paid the young lady and left.My daughter and I continued to do some shopping the went to leave the store, upon nearing the big glass doors one very hot and flushed young lady came running up the steps. Madam I didnt give you your change. Here was this lovely young girl whom had been running all over the place looking for me with a 10000 rupiah note. I thanked her for her honesty ,and for going to such an effort to find me i gave the money and more back to her. This I believe shows how beautifull Bali can be if you give it a go
Didnt get bitten by any dogs so no rabies. Actually didnt see many dogs or cats.
Only negative was one taxi driver( and yes he was in a blue bird taxi with his meter going ) took us the long way to Kuta from Legian and we didnt realise till to late so watch out for this. After this we went back to using transport guys and found this the best way to travel, especially if you have a rough idea of prices, Most of them actually said * price upto you, you tell me* and they accepted. Give these guys a chance and you make good friends and find they will be just as cheap as taxis.
Checked out our accommodation for next year. Sorry to miss you Ron , was told you had just gone to get a beer. Sanur Beach Villas looked like it would suit us just fine. So see you next August.
