got a no when dewa applied for a tourist visa the first time. They said they didnt believe his job was "bona fide", he was single and had never travelled before and also didnt own any property, so therefore they didnt believe he had sufficent reason to return to Bali. We rang consulate in Jakarta and they said that we could apply again and see what happens. When I pointed out that none of his circumstances had changed the person I spoke to said "but he could get it this time". I believe they just say to themselves" I have issued 20 visa'a today so the next ones I will decline"
Anyway we reapplyed in Sept.with the same job, still single still never having travelled the only difference was that we included a letter from an Aust.business man that is a friend of Dewa's to state that he knew Dewa through his job,we also included a letter from his brother saying he was very involved with his family and village life. And we put 1,000,000rp into his bank account. And this time we got it.
So I say put in as much stuff that you can to prove your friend will return to Bali and you shouldnt have a problem. Dewa got a 3 month visa.
Hope this is of some help.
