he has genuine concerns for the safety of himself and his kids... your opening sentence just proves that your either misinformed, ignorant or most likely both... Yes the media does tend to blow things out proportion we all know that, but the problems in Bali & the rest of the world for that matter are very real. I've just returned from a couple of weeks there and let me tell you it is a concern!!!
You enjoy your trip in August but dont let your ignorance be your downfall if you should happen to find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time, but hey if your change your mind on Bali I hear there is some real cheap packages to India at the moment...
