Hello all
returned on Sunday 7th december after 15 days in bali. 6 not so good the rest wonderful.
flew with singapore airways via singapore from adelaide couldnt fault their flight to singapore but from singapore to denpasar hubby didnt get a meal as the cabin crew were too busy sorting out some sort of group from pakistain and they were rude to them so the service sort of got let down. Return was good however from bali.
Stayed at Pelangi resort in seminyak hotel a little tired but they are shutting down for 3 months from feb to refresh the place and upgrade everything.
We love the pelangi only because it is staffed with balinese people and is managed by the balinese so therefore it is a wonderful friendly hotel and the staff remember you as soon as you walk in the place so it is like comming home everytime.
places we ate well......... because i was sick from bali belly couldnt go out for a couple of nights and wasnt till the last week that we ate anywhere
Yutzs ate there twice yummy steak and veg was i so pleased to eat that I know not adventurous but after our other experience i wasnt going to be adventurous.
lucky day in seminyak ate there once good for indo food staff friendly toilets very clean and top grade worth the meal to see the loos.
goodys on the beach at double 6 this resturant is owned by a fella from melbourne and the food is just so nice and yummy went there twice met the owner and complemented him on his resturant and his staff the local people eat here also pizza and pasta dishes 29000 each one bintags were cheap here also. had a problem with the aussie wine here and they took it back without question and also appologised profusley.
lani on the beach on double six also good meal but again yutzs was better.
did the ususal shopping for bags ect, prices were reasonable for everything but the best place for shopping for these things were in poppies 2 lane as the shops here are doing it tough still.
plenty of people in the hotels and on the plane but not in the streets I guess they are still not happy with the situation over there.
aussie dollar best 7800 worst 7200 but bargined accordinally
Spent time with our balinese family in their village, he is a pool attendant who works at the pelangi and over the years we have built up a rapport with him to the point of sms and phone calls to and fro this was the high point of our stay in bali. Took 2 dolls and strollers over for his children and books and pencils ect. fishing rod and reels and tackle (all from ebay and good price) for him. His wife did not want anything but we left Gustra with some money for her birthday next week and also helped out with some renovations for his home.
it was a very humbling experience as this man and his family have very little but are so happy with their life we should all take a leaf out of the balinese book.
we shall miss him and his family very much
well that is all i can tell you cheers sharon
