as a preventive but if bitten would certainly take all precautions of strong cleansing with iodine and start the anti-rabies course of injections immediately. Of course only a few dog bites may carry a rabies risk but too late if any signs of the disease show up. The first preventive is to have nothing to do with dogs or monkeys which are thee main species likely to carry and bite.
