.. We went last year and took our then 14mth old. We did 3n Ubud, 5n Tuban. The 3n was enough for us. Loved it tho and wished I'd thought to book Ubud in the next two trips we've got booked (1wk to go & March!). Lots of great restaurants up there, good markets and a more laid-back feel. Some things that are close to there are Bali Zoo, Bird Park (we went there and it was pretty good, son loved it). I think Safari Park is reasonably close to here too.
I never get away for 17n tho, most is usually 10n, so perhaps if I was going for 17days then a week would be reasonable. It's definitely a great place to go, see and relax, there's some beautiful scenery around here too.
