the main medicine that is supposed to be prescribed in local health centres etc in Indonesia for conjunctivitis is Tetracycline eye ointment...this is fairly standard worldwide but often people can be tempted to prescribe alternatives to make money! Tetracycline drops should be used frequently during the day - at least 4 hourly but the ointment is more beneficial and should definitely be used before bedtime. Both drops and ointment are cheap at the apotek and no doubt they will know exactly what you are after when you walk in so don't get sucked in to fancy alternatives! The infection should be more bothersome than painful. If getting painful then a doctor should be seen. Highly contagious as people have said so stepping up hand washing is needed.
