If you are going to purchase an electrical item, instead of duty free you can purchase anything at Harvey Norman's, Good Guys etc 30 or so days before flying out and when you get to the airport you can claim the tax back. Make sure you have the receipt. It isn't cash up front, they put it into your bank account. You can even use the product during those 30 days.
