Why dont you sponsor a child (its a great family Christmas present to your family) thru the Rotary project, Helen Flavel Foundation or other reputable organisations ?
For au$110 per year (tax deductible) you can sponsor a child and when you go to Bali you can have the opportunity to meet the child and maybe other family members. You can see a working school first hand and develope an ongoing relationship with the chil/family.
The au$110 provides all school needs for the child for the year, clothes, shoes, pens, pencils, books etc.
