If you go over your limit and declare it you just pay the Australian duty tax on the amount extra you bring in over and above your limit, which makes it pointless!

If you dont declare it and get caught( highly likely at Perth airport) you will be charged AU duty tax on all of it including what you bought duty free,or if you dont want to pay you loose it all(including the duty free) and its held for 3 months, during which time you can pick it back up from customs if you leave the country within that period.

Same applies for smokes,200 or 250 cant remember but usually 1 carton per adult.

Good advise also for people from East flying Virgin via Perth and back

Perth customs are the strictest I have ever come across in all the countries I have been too.Especially vigilant with Bali travelers because of weapons and wooden articles.
