you need to have 3 injections with the third 21-28 days after the first. Even if bitten you need to go through the motions, the main reason for immunisation is to be able to be suitable for non blood sourced vaccines / serums post bite.
The immunisations are not cheap and I am fairly sure you need to attend a certified vaccination centre like Travellers Medical in Oz capital cities. The immunisations are not normally recommended for tourists.
I had the immunisations when I worked years ago in Cambodia but as I also hate wandering dogs I carry a small dog chaser away thingy I think I got in Dick Smiths which has proved very effective in various countries!
