I used to try sending letters to a friend a few years back and if we were lucky then half of them got through. And that was only with letters or greeting cards and nothing inside. His letters to me would always arrive without fail. In the end I resorted to sending postcards (no envelope) and they all arrived safely, so it wasn't an issue with the way they were addressed.
Thankfully these days we text, so no need to rely on the postal system, but I would never have trusted it to sending parcels to my friend, not after so many letters going missing.
