haven't been there since July when we visited some friends who were staying there.
At that time the pool was algae green and the water stung their eyes so much they were staying away.
They had stopped eating at the restaurant, except for the included breakfast as they found the food ordinary and overpriced.
This matched our experience when we stayed there half a dozen times over the years. The last time we were there some three years ago they had cut the breakfast eggs down to egg although it still showed eggs on the menu.
The first morning we got one egg each so on the second I insisted ( out of principal) that as the menu said eggs we wanted 2 each. They had to comply.
The third morning they pointed out that the menu's had all had the s crossed out so we would only be getting 1 each. At that point I produced 3 farm eggs I had bought down the road earlier and asked them to cook for us. The roof just about fell fell off with laughter as the story spread and everyone in the kitchen came out to see who these idiots were who brought their own eggs!
The incident was amusing but showed the mean spirit of the management there. The 3 of us had 2 rooms for which we were paying the standard garden room rate of USD 35.00 so they were collecting $70.00.
Eggs at that time cost Rp 400 so the amount they were saving by knocking the eggs back to 1 was around 4c per person. I have often wondered if they ever thought to offset the 4c per person they were saving against the the fact that guests expected and got 2 eggs every else.
Were they still on the 1 egg gig?
If they have got their act together with the pool and are producing
good food at the restaurant that's fantastic. How did it compare for quality, quantity and price to the other restaurants you visited in the area?
