...is an island-wide festival that occurs every 210 days (always falling on a wednesday i.e. Hari Buda in the week Dungulan). It is the celebration the victory of Dharma (righteousness, Cosmic Order) over Adharma (chaos, darkness) During that time, all the ancestors will be invited to descend to this level of existence. Every house will raise a Penjor to entice the spirits of the dead into coming down, as well as giving them a temporary shelter. The ENTIRE Island will be decked out for the 3 days of the festival. A must-see!!! Don't worry, most shops, hotels, restaraunts, etc. etc. will be still be open. That seems to be the major concern of the majority of people who post on this Forum. Cheers.
