I booked a room at a hotel for 9 nights over new year period by email. After many emails thay requested my passport page and credit card sent by fax or email. As I was not happy sending a scan of my c/card over the internet, I scanned the passport page and phoned with my card number, (which took two phone calls to get someone to understand me) I then (after a few days) received an email with an invoice page saying they wanted half payment now (In US Dollars)and half when we left. I assumed that they would take the half deposit from my C/card number I had provided, but two weeks on nothing has happened. I haven't pushed it because of course the crash of the A$ came during this time. But just wondering, Is this usual?, am I booked? or should I email again to see what is going on? The Ubud hotel I have booked just wanted my card number as goodwill, and said we will pay when we leave. Anybody else come across this?
