Modesty in Lombok is much the same as Bali. Locals wear jeans & t-shirts, teenagers do wear shorts - mid thigh is fine - around the beach or tourist areas however married (or older) women do not. Many locals wear sarongs at home or in the village - tied around the waist with a short sleave t-shirt. You will occasionally see women wearing a jilbab (head scarf), it often makes up part of a 'smart' business wardrobe or is worn when going to the city. It is completely optional for locals and not required for non-muslims.

In Senggigi or Kuta you are fine wearing pretty much what you would wear at home in a similar place. You are probably not the sort of person who parades around the supermarket in a bikini, and you wouldn't do that in Lombok (or Bali) either.

If you have to go into the city to a government office or say to the big mall, just wear a t-shirt rather than singlet and skirt or long pants. Same deal as in Bali (or at home I dare say). Optionally pop a shirt over your singlet - unbuttoned is fine.
