Last night we met a retired lady in the departure lounge in Bangkok airport. She told us that she and her husband had been in KL, Borneo and back to KL.
With just two days to go before the end of a wonderful holiday, her husband fell victim to a bag snatch attack from a motor cyclist. However, her husband didn't let go and the attacker accelerated causing him to be dragged, hitting his head on the ground.
Her husband underwent two brain operations in KL and is left with no speech, no swallowing reflex and is paralysed down his left side. He came home on our aircraft with a doctor and nurse and went straight to a Melbourne hospital on arrival.
Fortunately, the lady did have travel insurance and now only needs to concentrate on her husband's health improving.
