I only found out that the taxes go up and down with the exchange rate so when you book and pay your taxes change .

While the aussie dollar is low the tax is high I booked flights with Garuda this week and was quoted $650 plus $401 tax but have been told that the tax component will change when I finally pay in full depending on the rate of the dollar.

And yes Garuda did have a special for $550 plus taxes out of Syney on offer plus another at $650 plus taxes .

Melbourne only offered the $650 plus taxes but the condition is that the total airfare including tax must be paid before Deceber 12.

There are limited seats at this price and most travel agents are callig it early bird special so get in quick I think travel with the $550 price had a shorter travel time span where as I have booked my $650 seats for May 2009.
