But have since had a few ideas myself - If they only wanna just be close to the airport & have some where to lay there head & not explore too much what would you think of any places around Coconut Grove ? Isn't there some nice apartments out on Dick Ward Drive - From memory that's not too far from McMillans Rd aka the airport.

Another close place to the airport that I can think of is Feathers Sanctuary at Jingili - 1/2 way between McMillans rd & Trower Rd.No idea on prices on either of these places FNQ - but both are very close to the airport. Both would be less than a 5 minute drive.

If you want real budget & just a place to sleep & shower -I think you may need to head into Darwin itself which isn't that far from the airport.I reckon only about 15 > 20 minutes or so.There is a shuttle bus available which can drop you off at the YMCA or any local motels or apartments & only costs about $20 return into the city itself. If you are able to be awake enough it is really worthwhile exploring Darwin a bit & staying in town. It's a great city with a lot to see & do.

Jan would I be correct in thinking that you may be concerned if they are gonna be there in the peak dry season that accomodation may be hard to get as well as being pricey.

If anyone wants very cheap budget rooms & pretty central in Darwin I would suggest the YMCA in Doctors Gully, close to the top end of Mitchell St.Never been inside but it looks great from the outside & is also very close to the city centre. There are some great pubs & restaurants close by as well down this end of town or it's only a short walk into the city centre itself.Do yourself a favour & head into town & have a look around a bit, sleep on the plane.
