able to fly in the comfort they pay for.
I won't comment on the weight of baggage and body thing because I don't think it can work in a way that isn't completely discriminatory and downright mean.
However being a small in stature person with a few extra kilo's I'm neither a big person or a small person but I feel that if I pay for a seat on a plane I should be able to sit in that seat without my thighs and ass (which while they fill my seat are still between my two armrests) having to rub up against the person's next to me because they're too large to fit in a seat. I also don't think that I should have to squish my shoulders together while eating or reading or getting something out of my seat pocket so that I don't rub up against the overweight person next me.
Why should I pay the same as them and spend the entire flight in discomfort. I don't disagree that they're uncomfortable as well having to sit in an economy sized seat but I can't help that and it is NOT my problem. It will be my problem if/when I put so much weight on that I too cannot fit in the damn seat.
So, I think that overweight people that cannot fit comfortably in an economy sized seat either pay for 2 (or 3 if there is 2 of them travelling together) or fork out for First/Business class.
