I have just booked a frequent flyer seat on clasic rewards (the only way to go - the others ask for a riduclious number of points) for four weeks time in November. There were seats available on direc6t flights for a few days. However, if you want to go in popular times such as school holidays, these are almost impossible to get as they only release a few seays for these times and as you can book up to over 300 days ahead, then they will go quickly. The solution is to be flexible if you can and go out of Australian school holidays, or in the low season.
