also after a trip to Bali in December - but it also happened in Perth as well - I've had to cancel my card both times.
I watched my card like a hawke and never let it out of my site in Bali but don't really have that same awareness at home (I know I should).
I always let the bank know when I'm going to be away - they told me card scimming is very common everywhere including Australia and you'd never know it was happening.
A couple of months ago I got a phone call from Commonwealth while in the process of booking my flights on Air Asia - between pressing "ok" and it actually processing, they had called me to check on the transaction.
I guess at least it's comforting to know their security alerts work - it is an inconvenience though - we had to cancel our card between xmas and new year.
This sort of thing doesn't just happen in Bali though.
