If it's actually an infection, you will need antibiotics - something like Sudafed.
I would also highly recommend nasal sprays (I would try Fess saline nasal spray, Vicks nose inhalers) and menthol lozenges. The good thing about those inhalants/nasal sprays is that they are non addictive and usually work very, very well! Or even eat some chilli or sambal!
When you're on the plane, perhaps just take general painkillers such as paracetamol or Ibuprofen. But if you are on antibiotics, please double check their ingredients or read their pamphlets so you don't double up and take too much of anything.
