Days 9 - 11 were spent chilling by the pool and some shopping.

The next three days were fairly laid back, apart from a worldwide financial market meltdown and the Aussie Dollar plummeting to around 6000 rupiah.

Quick tips

Found a good, cheap massage place Just down from Centro Discovery called 'My Body'. Simple and cheap, with 1 hour massages for 50,000 rupiah, with good beds and aircon. We had a number of treatments there over the next few days and they really looked after us. We tried an ear candle treatment for 50,000 rupiah which was really interesting and I can hear so much better now.

Dollar for Dollar, the best value massage in the Kuta / Tuban area is definately the Melasti Beach Apartments Spa - for 145,000 Rupiah their 1 1/2 hour Melasti Massage is hard to beat

On our second day at Waterbom, the exchange rate for the Australian dollar was still at 7500 rupiah, despite everywhere else being 6000, so I put AUD$200 onto a wristband, then cashed the remainder in rupiah at the end of the day. Worth checking for future visitors.

On Day 12, instead of hiring a driver for the day to go shopping (going rate for local shopping is 350,000 rupiah) we took taxis, all over the place for 150,000 including 40,000 in tips, so for local shopping trips, Bluebird Taxis are definitely the go.

Centro discovery have 50% off baggage for the next month which makes it cheaper to buy off them than the local street sellers.

Best place for Laundry is Simply Fresh, next door to Warung Warung - 5,500 rupiah per kilogram which works out much cheaper than paying per piece, and a choice of fragrances.

Restaurant feedback

Had a second meal at Warung Warung which was disappointing - they were busy and the service was really bad. Get them on a quiet night and they are excellent.

Also had meals at Kori's - the ribs were good but they came out cold, the kids had burgers which were excellent. The cocktails here were fairly priced and decent sized.

Tried TJ's Mexican in Poppies 1 - service was really ordinary - several bored looking wait staff leaning on the bar, Entrées were really ordinary and small, drinks were really small and watered down. The Chile Con Carne main was very good and I would recommend it, but not the overall experienceand probably wouldn't go back again.

Il Cielo have a half price pasta promotion - excellent pastas - try the Fettuccine with beef ribs or the mushroom ravioli. Excellent service.

The final JBR will be on the Hard Rock Hotel - full of unexpected surprises.
