off Kuta/Legian beaches. You can see the sand dredger trawling all day and night up north as far as Seminyak then it turns around and heads back to South Kuta where is disgorges it's ill-gotten gains via a pipeline onto the beach near the BGH.

God knows what the removal of sand is doing to the natural removal and replacement of sand banks off Kuta and Legian but is that much forethought ever put into the consequences of development in Bali ?

And now the beach has been raised to the height of the new boardwalk and the hotels that hug the shoreline.

Aren't the waves from the first decent swell with a decent high tide going to love that ! A ramp just for them to cause havoc with the beach front developments.

And wait till wet season comes with constant onshore winds on that side of the island and all the rubbish blown in onto the boardwalk.

So what do they do about it ? Start building rock groynes out on the reef in front of the BGH/Discovery/Kartika Plaza ! An eyesore which will ruin the reef and be of no use whatsoever (did the cement wall in front of the Pantai save it ?).

This is just another example of development in Bali to appeal to and appease the tourists and bugger all thought given to the consequences.

When will they ever bloody learn.
