Hi guys,
Dont usually do JBR's as a frequent flyer to Bali for business but thought I would just share a few details.
Took off with Garuda from Perth on Friday morning non eventful and pleasant trip. Through VOA, Immigrassi and Customs within about twenty minutes. Good time to land in Bali, no other planes at this time.
Straight up to the Ubud Village Hotel. We spent three nights here. What a great little place this is. Currently doing some renovations but didnt bother us at all. Our two standard rooms were just lovely, we had our own private little entrance through two doors leading into a little courtyard with table and chairs. Into the room with a great king sizd bed and then out to a open bathroom with a sunken bath and outdoor shower and toilet. Ahhh hows the serenity. The grounds were nice with a smaller sized pool, but just perfect for a swim and a cooling off. Afternoon tea was served in a dining area which was lovely.
Did the markets, monkey forest and went for a drive further up to check out all the merchandise.
On the Sunday the five of us, our drver and his two boys all met up at the Safari Park for the day. Just to see the looks on the little boys face was priceless. Had a fantastic day looking at all the exhibits. The safari bus was great with an excellent guide with a sense of humour and very good engish. Had lunch in the big restaurant. Then spent the rest of the afternoon at the Water Park. Fantastic day.
Monday left Ubud and down to the MBR for the last five nights. Hubby and I had a Deluxe room overlooking the front pool and driveway. Oh my god how big was this room. It was fantastic. The kids and mother-in-law had a deluxe room across from us overlooking the centre pool was just as nice but a little smaller.
Did the usual shopping in the Legian markets, Kuta markets and Matahari as well as all the little shops in between.
My daughter's birthday was on the 8th so as requested we spent the day at Waterbom Park. Great day had by all. We decided to have dinner at the MBR as they were having a buffet and traditional dancers. We had invited some of our local friends to join us. I must say that the MBR staff were excellent and had orgainsed a special chair for our daughter with lots of decorations and a beautiful cake too. The evening was so lovely ending with both our daughters joining the dancers for a dance.
The rest of the holiday was spent relaxing and finalising purchases.
The return trip home was also uneventful and I must say it was the best flight with Garuda. The drinks cart was up and down the aisle all afternoon and nothing was too much trouble.
Pretty much straight through Immigration and Customs on return.
Great trip enjoyed by all.
Only one downer on the trip when the M-in-L went to the Melasti Spa by herself oneday and as she wasnt familiar with the currency they ripped her off by taking almost double of what she should have paid. As a pensioner money in precious thanks to our wonderful govenment and this just upset her greatly.
Rate dropped from 7200 on our first day to 6200 on Saturday when we left but has gone up slightly now.
Any questions just ask.
