We actually saw the Kintamani Volcano area twice as first time we did a Kintamani Lake & Volcano tour where we picked up from Sanur at 8.15 in the morning. On the way we stopped off and watched a Barong Dance which lasted an hour (little bit long). Then off to watch woodcarving and tour the shop (bought some wooden elephants which we declared through customs and came through okay). Then off to the silversmiths and watch silver jewellery being made. Bought the girls a pair of earring each. Next stop was at a coffee plantation which was interesting and got to taste 5 or 6 types of coffees, tea and cocoa. Next stop was a Temple and our guide Sandy was very informative. Finally we made it to the Volcano around 2.00 where we stopped for a buffet lunch in the restaurant. Very nice and tasty food and plenty to choose from the buffet. Left at 3.00 then headed towards home, but not before stopping off at an Art Gallery. Naturally had to buy a small original painting that the whole family chose. One more stop along the way at another Temple. Very nice and interesting. Finally back to the Hotel at 7.00pm. We were really tired when we got back but felt it was a very interesting and informative day.
Our other trip to Kintamani Volcano was on the Bali Baik Tour day. Now had we done this tour first we probably wouldn't have done the other one. Whilst they were both different, they were full days and once you get to Kintamani you have a meal then head off on your next destination. The Bike tour day included a buffet breakfast at a Restaurant at the Kintamani which was a different restaurant to the first day and we also did a coffee plantation visit which we felt was better on the bike tour day.
Anyway, this is all probably far too much information, but hope it helps you if you are wanting to make a decision. Definitely do a bike tour with Wayan through Bali Baik. We would do this again for sure....even the teenage girls enjoyed it! Cheers,
