- gamble but one thing is sure and that is you will get the best rate in Bali, not in your home country.
If you go to the Yahoo link (below) and enter the details to convert 1 (Australian) dollar into Indonesian rupiah you will find just under the conversion result (just scroll down a bit) a graph which shows how the rate has changed over a period of time. Try the 3 month button first (scroll down again after the re-calculation is finished) and you will notice, at the moment, that the rate has generally been getting worse over that period of time. This suggests that the rate tomorrow will be worse than today. This would tempt me to change a goodly proportion of my cash as soon as I arrive in Bali.
If you go back to the graph and click on the 5 day or 1 day buttons you will perhaps get some idea whether it might be better to change cash in the morning or in the afternoon if you've got a choice.
If you notice that the rate boards outside the money changers in Bali continue to go down then it might be seen as an indication to change more of your cash earlier rather than later in your holiday.
If the rate suddenly starts to go up then I suggest you delay your changing for as long as you can.
Remember, after doing all of this, you might save your self several rupiah in every dollar you change.
