All up bright and early and down to breakfast. Best pancakes & omelettes in all of Bali I am sure, made by the beautiful smiling Made. Welcomed every morning by smiling cheerful staff is a great way to start the day. Set off to Diannes to be greeted warmly with hugs all round. The kids found some great posters accross the road from Diannes above the supermarket. They bought old school posters Beatles, Rolling Stones and I am told they cost heaps at home. We headed back to the BGH for swimming and drinks and rest. Headed off to Poppies 1 again for some more shopping as last night was too exciting and rushed. Sunglasses & perfume were purchased son bought a beautiful handmade quilt with Dragons on from Bali Bedcovers. You an order from a book they have there if you can't find something you like. Headed over to Poppies 2 stopping I am sure at everyone's shop on the way and sharing the rupiahs around. In Poppies 2 the fun began when after trying to make a purchase money was taken daughter boyfriend and put down pants!! I am sure the guy in question thought he had this money as they wouldn't want it back but they don't know my daughters boyfriend, he calmly but firmly asked for his cash back took it and walked off having a laugh to himself!! We have named this adventure James hairy adventures in Bali!!
Headed back to BGH and had tea at The Boardwalk Cafe down at the beach. We ate here many times over the course of our holiday and found the food and service excellent. It was very pleasant sitting there with a bintang and a nice breeze blowing. We decided that we would all like to go to the new safari park so Connie & Made were organized to collect us at 9am.
Another beautiful day inparadise dawned and off we went to the safari park. I must admit I wasn't sure how this would go with the big range of ages and tastes but this was a great day. Connie was an excellent help, making sure we were there for the bird show and elephant consveration show before everyone else so we could sit in the shade. We learnt lots from here about Balinese culture and she was teaching us some basic phrases and words while alos learning about our lives in Australia. Youngest daughter was chosen to participate in the elephant show and you should have seen the look on her face when the elephant stepped over her and dropped a poo right next to her. We all laughed so much thta we had tears streaming down our cheeks. This is Annies close encounter!! I agree with earlier posts that the lion cub is too sleepy so must be somehow sedated the baby orangutangs are to die for and we had no problems getting some great photos. The waterpark is very basic and I feel more for younger children but there are expansion plans underway to add more attractions. All in all the park is well worth a visit and good value. We ate lunch at the big pavillion were they had dancing and shows during lunch. Once again Connie was invaluable assisting with translations and was great company at lunch. I would advise anyone thinking of going to the safari park to go and enjoy the tour bus trip is very informative and good fun.
Friday was decided by all to be a day of rest and enjoyment of the pool as Saturday we were off to visit SD3 Sembung school to meet our sponsor child.
