Just spent 3 glorious days in Amed, staying at Bayu Cottages and Breakfast was included there. We enjoyed lunch at the Coral View and Wayan's Warung, but the definite gastronomic delight was at Sails. A beautiful outdoor restaurant owned by a Kiwi, overlooking the ocean with magnificent views of the moon over the water. I tried the local fish-mahi mahi and it was magnificent....enjoyed with a local white wine of course. My husband, looking for western-style food was very happy with the owner's suggestion of rissoles.
For an adventure, one of the locals organised a bbq on the beach for us. Wayan cooked 2 mahi mahi over a fire, and his wife, also Wayan, brought us boiled rice and vegetables and sauce for the fish. We ate with our hands and drank bintang from large bottles, but what an experience! And nothing was wasted---We were happy to share with Wayan's friends and family.
I hope you enjoy the peace and beauty of Amed, as we certainly did and would love to visit again one day.
