If you drive from Jogja to the Borobudur temple you will see heaps of stone carving places along Jl Magelang (thats the main road) they push up their prices really really high, take a left or right turn down any side street along this road, and stop in the statue places here, the prices are much cheaper. :)
There are heaps of places to visit in Jogja, you would need about 3 or 4 days at least :)
The main shopping street of Jalan Malioboro, the traditonal market here is Beringharjo.. very cheap, very busy and famous of pick pockets :) Things are cheaper in here than you would find outside :)
The Sultan's palace (check the entry times at its not open 9 to 5), The water palace, The southern beaches, Parangritis -black sand (however all dangerous for swimming) there are several white sand beaches, however still too dangerous for swimming, and about an hours drive south of Jogja, lovely sights though :)
The prambahnan (hindu) temple, again check the opening hours and its best to go early in the morning, very hot!!
Its best to visit all the tourists spots on a weekday so its not as busy as the weekends :)
There is heaps more...but maybe others can suggest something :)
