We're heading to bali in november with our 4yr old. We're really not too worried about what to do with her once we're there (as everyone has suggested theres plenty to entertain them with).
For the flight though i'd definately recommend little surprises. We did this with our daughter last time we flew, if she started getting antsy & we couldn't distract her we'd pull out a new book or something special. Doesn't have to be expensive either, & remember your heading to a place full of very cheap little surprises to entertain him with.
