Hi luvtheNT, what I meant by Legian seems to be sliding down market is that the level of maintenance and renovation isn't as evident as it is in Kuta and Seminyak. There are more glass fronted air conditioned stores in these areas than in Legian.
Legian has less variety in the goods for sale, we named it the Bintang Singlet capitol of the world and we saw the same goods repeated over and over and it's looking more like the "market" area of Kuta now. The goods for sale in Kuta and Seminyak are much more varied and yes - they do cost more. After not going to Bali for 3 years these things stood out to us. Kuta seemed to attract more international tourists like Nusa Dua always has. We could see a clear division between the areas more this trip in development, tourist demographics in an area and goods for sale. We were told that Kerobokan is the next area to boom. The amount of building (heaps more villas) up around Seminyak was mind boggling.

Sorry but were not aware of any bungalows at the Heliconia complex - all villas. No communal pool, each villa has it's own decent sized private pool. Our 1 bedroom villa had a deep pool and you could even do a short lap. Would return here in a heartbeat as it was very reasonably priced, we loved our stay at Heliconia.
