You'll be fine. Just be wary of the nightlife on your own. Im too old for that crap, so didn't need to worry too much. But I'd be taking all the usual precautions. Drink spiking happens everywhere. I tended to tell people I had friends back at the hotel if anyone asked while I was out and about.
This year, taking my 15yo nephew, that will be interesting.
