I also puchased cheap seats from Sydney last year, I checked last years email and the specials started 16/10/2007. Helen as long as you have subscribed to Jet* mail and check your emails daily you shouldn't miss the specials IF Jet* decide to have them again this year.
I have decided that if no specials are forthcoming by the end of October I will book Garuda.
