If you look out for specials, you can buy a cheap mountain bike in Australia for as low as $A75. Even cheap bikes in Australia conform to Australian standards and come with a warranty.
A steel mountain bike weighs about 18 kg. Multiply that by say $25 excess baggage fee per kg and a bike from Bali is not a bargain.
Not to mention the hassle of excess baggage at the check in counter and carrying a bike through Airports.
