trauma.

The biggest public hospitals in Australia and NZ are where you are taken in cases of severe trauma as they have the best equipped accident and Emergency Departments, the most equipment and the most experienced trauma staff.

The same applies to Sanglah but on a much lower level.

I hope it is better now but even 7 years ago when a German expat broke an arm that had to be pinned she ended up having it repinned in Singapore as the stainless steel pin they had passed off as the real thing was rejected.

My son tripped on a step at Amed and split his forehead a couple of years back. We called the Puskas Mas District Nurse but she was unwilling to stitch as he was a westerner so I took him to Amlapura hospitals new A and E Dept. Hardly any equipment and a tiled bench which is a big no no because of bacteria in the grouting. (The stainless steel benches in our restaurant were more hygienic.)

The doctor arrived and asked if James was still at school. I asked her how old she was to which she replied 32. I informed her that James was 2 years her senior and she inserted 5 sutures.

I politely suggested that it could probably do with one more but she demurred. In fact I was correct which is a bit sad because he now has an obvious scar which wasn't necessary.
A pity as I have also watched the district nurse suture a jagged rip on a locals foot and a year later there is virtually no scar.

Sorry to trout on but even in Jakarta anyone with money goes overseas for medical attention.
