Didn't seem to be the answer you were after, so here's my view on the Barong. We'll be there again over christmas/new year this year. 17 of us all up, family and friends. We were there in March last year and enjoyed it. The Barong is the only hotel we have stayed in more than once in Bali. It's not large or fancy like many others, 3 star and no frills. We enjoyed the location and young atmosphere in the hotel, very close to all things in the Kuta/Legian area. Rooms are basic but comfortable and the showers are a bit hit & miss. Beds are comfortable enough and if you've had a few drinks too many, then they're great. Breakfast was basic buffet, but now i believe it's the American b/fast with bacon, eggs, toast etc. It's not expensive outside if you don't like breakfast there. The staff are good, like most places and probably run off there feet at present with many people over there. The hotel is located in Poppies II and at times it becomes a hustle & bustle when you walk out in to it all, but it doesn't take long to get used to. It's a good value for money hotel in a central area, but don't go expecting all the frills and fruit associated with a 4 - 5 star hotel.
