5 days left and now the trip is suddenly going way too quick.
Did a day trip today through Ubud and up to Kintamani.
1st stop was a Barong dance which was interesting, and then we stopped at a Silver & Gold Factory & watched how they make some of the delicate pieces of jewelery. After this went to the art market at UBUD where we all got a painting.
Lunch was buffet at a restaurant overlooking Kintamani - shame it was overcast yet still a great day. Went through a lot of little villages, and stopped to walk through the rice paddies. Was a good day out and great to see a bit more of Bali..
Next day tried a warm stone massage which i have been meaning to do ...was fantastic.90 minutes of heaven for only 90,000. Had this done at place called Carlas (at the T intersection end of Garlic lane & i think its Melasti St) They girls here are really friendly and the massage was just sensational...ended up coming back here every day for the rest of our trip..
Headed off the Hulu this night - K had never been before and its always a good laugh. Billys after this and then we headed out to Kuta for another huge night.
Next day another hangover (yet never seem as bad as at home)..so spent most of the day at the pool. Finally got moving and went to the beach and ended up at Zanzibars for dinner. This was lovely restaurant and we watched the sunset and i had the best fish and chips ever tasted...walked off dinner along the beach and stopped at the Mandira for a few drinks and lashed out for a bottle champers..was lovely sitting there at night, a wedding was going on nearby so we had the music from the band & just lazing on their comfy lounges. Ended back to GVC bar for few more drinks ...(we seem to end up their quite a few nights - get to meet a lot of fun & interesting people there).
Next day K&I headed off to waterbom park...stopped of discovery first to get some cash and as soon as we walked in our noises were hit with this delicious aroma...it was coming from this place called Bread Talk. We were in awe...this delicious place was like a bakery yet nothing like i had experienced at home..mixture of sweet & savoury morsels of food ..cause we could not chose we ended buying a mixture and then sharing so we could try all the different tastes..Went back there after Waterbom as well to try things we didnt before..
Anyway back to waterbom - i am a bit of a chicken and the first slide we went to was the Superbowl...i got a 3rd of the way up the stairs and started to shake and ended up going back down. K loved it and had a go at me stating the at there were little kids on it - still could not do it. Went on the Lazy River (about 6 times) - this was more my style...loved it.
Finally thought i have to try at least one slide so ventured off to the Jungle Ride - screamed all the way down yet loved it..Then got the bug and went on River Raft which was a lot of fun. Then K talked me into going on the Macaroni with her - it was fast and i screamed again the whole way down and vowed i would kill her...was terrified yet had a ball. This was the extent of my slides - kept coming back to these 3. K was more adventurous and nearly went on them all. Also played Water Splash there which was hilarious. You stand opposite each other and then using a sling shot throw water balloons at each other - great laugh.
Later on had dnner at Ocean Blue along the beach. Another great meal yet the highlight was the fire & acrobatic show they had on..was fantastic.
2nd last day and basically shopped all day...got 180 dvds...buy 100 and get 80 free..great coming home and just having movie nights.
Got a great leather hand bag a tommys (nearly opposite Possers). K also got one made in 3 days there - lovely burnt orange in colour and the leather is so soft.. bags cost 540,000 which some may think it a bit much yet the quality and leather is just superb...going back next time. Picked up more laundy so less for me to do when i get home.
Dinner at Lucky Day in Seminyak - this is one of my favourite restuarants..lovely garden setting out the front, food fantastic and you have to check out the toilets while you are there...
After this watched the footy at Galaxy again, few more bars and ended back a Lovida Loca shaking our tail feathers. Motor bikes home which was a laugh...
Last day :( - shake of the depressing feeling of the holiday coming to a end - had a 2hr pampering session at carlas 130 000 rp...ahh bliss. Just took it easy.
Every day we use to walk past this old beggar man who use to sit on the footpath down the road from the hotel...on the last day we walked past him and just handed to him a heap of money...you should of seen his face...
Arranged to have transport to the airport early (last year we got there people everywhere and waited for ages - no time to relax at all & were stressed out) - we got there about 8 - had the midnight flight out. CHecked in straight away - fantastic..luggage overwieght by 3k yet nothing said - woo hoo.
Heard all about these lounges and thought would try them out.
Went to the Dewa lounge.. 100,000rp per person...definately the way to go. Limited food yet what was there was very nice...and you could eat as much as you want. And the best was help yourself to drinks - wine, beer or spirits..this was hit with S who loves her neat scotches.
Had time to browse also and see if we can do that last minute shop...duty free definately cheaper in Bali than in Melbourne.Got a litre bottle of Baileys for US$23 and at Tullamarine it was $33aus...so when you work it out, a bit of a difference. Got a litre of cointreau also for only US$24
Home far too quick and already planing next year...
Before my first trip last year i could not understand why people keep going back again and again and again. Yet after being once i can see the attraction - Bali is highly addictive. Bring on next year.
