We leave Sanur to head off to Legain. Being my 2nd time back in Bali, i was very excited to see familiar shops, bars & restaurants again.
Last time we stayed at MBR which we enjoyed yet thought we would try something different. This trip we had 10 nights at the All Seasons.Hotel is nice and clean, rooms a bit small yet nice. Best thing about the All Seasons is the outside shower - was great. Pool was ok yet not nearly enough lounges around the pool and sun only around the pool at certain times. Plus the footpath around the pool extremely slippery...one poor lady had a nasty fall & hurt herself.
We had a friend "K" join us for the Legian part of the trip & she was staying at the All Seasons as well.
Met up with K and just walked around - of course a few bintangs.
Ended up at the GVC Bar - K who is the out going one of the 3 of us is already up singing with the band - her first night in Bali. Ended up a big night.
Next day - found a cheap laundry in a laneway nearly opposite Posers..Jesha Laundry- 12 items for 25,500 rp...what a bargain. The All Seasons laundry cost was about 3/4 times this. And dont you love how it comes back - everything, even undies folded neatly and that lovely smell. Dinner this night was at Jonis Restaurant - i had Chap Cay - mixture of chicken (lovely fillets - no grissle or cheap bits of meat) and vegies in delicious sauce - huge serve & only 42500. K had the best sweet & sour chicken i have ever tasted.
Day 3 headed off to Kuta - shopping at Matahari - got more shoes and revlon make up. The make up is so cheap..paid around $40 aus and worked out by Big W prices back home would of been around $90..
Next stop was Optik Seis - as from my last jbr i did not have a good experience in Sanur re ordering prescription sunnies - this store the people were so friendly and professional. Was told that when getting prescription sunnies you cannot have large frames or curved lenses otherwise the vision is distorted..was not told this is Sanur. Here they picked out frames suitable to make into sunnies and ended up having a great pair of Raybans which cost about $180 aus.
Went to Yutz for dinner - read all about this on the forum and it did not disappoint. Had lovely steak that just melted in our mouths.
After this stopped off at the bar at MBR to talk to our favourite security guard Widama (aka the general). He is just lovely and his big smile when he saw us just makes you melt (he remembered us from last year). He got up and sang a song for S which was great and then K the party animal out of us also got up for a song. We were in the mood to party so headed of to Seminyak and ended up at Double 6..this was about 1am. Venue looked pretty cool yet the place was dead and just had techno music blaring (heard tho people start rocking up around 2)...we hung around for a while yet not our scene. People were turning up yet we headed down the road and ended up at Lovida Loca. Now this was more like it - live band - bit of a Spanish influence. We were all up and dancing. Amazing how alcohol makes you think you should be on 'So you can think you can dance' we were all thinking we were just the greatest dancers and having a ball. Big night...
Next day seedy - spent first half of the day at the pool.
Came good after lunch and S & i thought we would cab it down to Seminyak and have a wander around (K could not get out of bed all day - except to answer the door for room service)..
We went half way down JL Oberoi - lot of development around this area - will be interesting to see the changes in a years time. Still found a few groovy shops and bought a lovely pearl & silver necklace that was US $34...ended up at Galaxy Bar where we stopped for bintangs and watched the footy ...was nice and relaxing..Some very groovy bars in Seminyak - you are paying a bit more yet still cheaper than home...
Cabbed it back to Legian and then went to the Warung - Bambo Corner - had another lovely cheap meal here..Night before was now catching up on us so crashed after dinner.
Next day we are all feeling refreshed - more shopping in Semiyak.
Lunch at Wayan and Friends - best salad sandwiches - needed a real healthy fix and the sandwiches they make here are excellent.
Tonight we arranged to go on the Bali Hai sunset cruise - did not get to see sunset as very cloudy. There was a live band on deck who were pretty good and some yummy finger food. Dinner was buffet - heaps of food and variety of choices - we all ate far too much. After dinner there was a caberet show - this was better than i thought it would be - had balinese dancers, a she male singer & also had 3 hunky body builders...well, you would think the 3 of us had never seen a male before (as well as other females) - women were cheering and carrying on - was a good perv. All in all was good entertainment and then dancing after the show. Paid $35 us for this.
5 days left after this - said to myself would not ramble in my jbr yet still have anyway. so easy to get carried away typing all my memories..
Will continue last 5 days later...
